With the economy improving, corporate merger and acquisition (M&A) activity is heating up once again. The 1990s witnessed a record number of company acquisitions across virtually all industries -- with the number of failures rivaling the number of successes. Over the years, I have witnessed the good and the bad when it comes to company acquisition. On the one hand, I've seen mergers that resulted in significant leverage opportunities for both companies.
