Q: Does/will your organization maintain copies onsite of the data generated or used by the on-demand/cloud-based BI or data warehousing solution for security or other purposes?

Curt Hall believes these numbers are too low, and states, "if you are considering on-demand/cloud-based BI and data warehousing in your organization, you should definitely plan to implement onsite backup procedures. In addition to standard backup requirements (for security, etc.), onsite backups/copies are needed for Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and other regulatory needs. Vendors have moved to meet these needs and now offer on-demand data integration tools designed to enable companies to back up and sync data generated by their on-demand applications (analytical systems and operational applications, such as CRM) with the data maintained on premise."
