Q: As you consider implementing an API program, rate the criticality of each of the following risks.

Cutter research found that the key API program risks of concern to enterprises include security, brand image, and the leakage of confidential data to the competition, among others. For example, says author Ramesh Ranganathan, "in the financial services industry, security is typically stated as a common concern when exposing APIs." He continues, "... there is no doubt that security holes will be the top-most risk for most organizations. Breaches in security may damage your organization's reputation and can potentially expose confidential information to your competitors. Managing these risks is a key aspect of API adoption."
