Jon Ward is a Cutter Expert and a member of Arthur D. Little's AMP open consulting network. As CEO of Beneficial Consulting, he helps CEOs and CIOs close the gap between AI ambition and AI execution.
His starting point is simple. There is no such thing as an AI transformation. There is business transformation, and AI is one mechanism within it. Jon works where Enterprise Agility meets AI governance, with a focus on financial services, insurance, healthcare and telecoms. He helps leadership teams decide who owns AI decisions, how risk is controlled, and how strategy becomes work that actually happens in the meeting rooms and corridors, not just in the slide deck.
He has led change for more than 30 years. That includes large-scale agile transformations, one of them in the infrastructure division of an international telecoms firm, and operating model redesign in financial services. For the last decade he has also been a board advisor, mainly in operational excellence and customer service.
Jon Ward is pragmatic, not dogmatic. He doesn't believe in one framework or one universal speed of change. The right approach depends on the market, the customer and the organisation in front of him. In practice that means blending Lean-Agile methods with traditional disciplines such as benefits management, portfolio management and formal governance. It has earned him a reputation for new ways of working that make a real difference.
He is the author of the soon-to-be-published The Supercharged Enterprise: Strategic Adaptation for Growth and Resilience (Business Expert Press) and Developing Agile Coaches, and the creator of the Blueprint for Enterprise Agility. He co-authored a white paper on AI governance covering accountability frameworks, the EU AI Act, ISO/IEC 42001 and agentic AI. He also designs and delivers Informa Connect courses on AI Leadership and Strategy for Business Transformation, and on Stakeholder Engagement which presents a dialogic approach to change management.
Earlier in his career, Jon was the Northern Europe Head of IT for Motorola Communications, Project Manager for Digital Equipment, and Chief Executive of Severn Group Plc. He holds an MBA from Sussex University, UK, and is certified in PMI Disciplined Agile, SAFe (SPC) and ICAgile.
