Kaus PhaltankarKaus Phaltankar is a Senior Consultant with Cutter Consortium’s Business Technology & Digital Transformation Strategies and Data Analytics and Digital Technologies practices. He is an expert in cloud security solutions, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance. Kaus brings more than 18 years of network and security engineering expertise, plus operations experience, from his work with leading corporations including Dell Technologies, Virtustream, Verizon/MCI, Hewlett Packard, and Citicorp.

Kaus has been a pioneer in developing and implementing innovative solutions for cloud service providers and enterprise customers in the US, Europe, Middle East, and Asia to meet challenges related to cybersecurity and risk management. Customers have included Fortune 100 commercial enterprises as well as federal agencies, such as the US Department of Defense and civilian agencies. 

Prior to founding Caveonix, Kaus was global President of Virtustream Security Solution, a Dell Technologies company, since the acquisition of his previous company, ViewTrust Technology by Virtustream in 2014. Virtustream was later acquired by EMC ($1.2B) and then by Dell Technologies. At Virtustream/Dell-EMC, Kaus was an evangelist and technology leader in developing compliance and risk management solutions for private, public, and hybrid clouds.

Prior to Virtustream, Kaus was founder and CTO at ViewTrust Technology, Inc. Kaus was instrumental in envisioning and developing key technologies behind the range of products offered by ViewTrust to the commercial and federal marketplace. At ViewTrust, Kaus developed and implemented solutions for cloud and enterprise Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC). He also developed solutions to achieve continuous Compliance automation and Risk Monitoring. His approach to Compliance as a Service (CaaS), for cloud environments, have been published in the DOD Software Technology Journal.

Prior to founding ViewTrust Technology, Kaus was founder and CEO of NetPlexus Corporation, a global Managed Security Service (MSS) provider with Fortune 500 Customers in Americas, Europe and Asia. Prior to NetPlexus, Kaus was Chief Engineer and Chief Architect for MCI's Internet Solutions Center. There he directly worked with one of the “fathers of the Internet,” Dr. Vint Cerf. 

Kaus has US patents for designing advanced datacenter architecture for the highest level of resiliency and reliability. He has authored a how-to book on network security, Implementing Secure Intranets and Extranets (Artech House, December 1999), with a forward by Dr. Vint Cerf. 

Kaus holds Masters in Telecommunications and Computer Science from The George Washington University, Washington DC; is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). He has written papers on cybersecurity, enterprise risk management, and compliance audits. He has presented at numerous conferences and organizations including The World Bank, AFCEA, and the National Defense University (NDU). He is Adjunct Faculty at University of Miami and enjoys teaching a course in cybersecurity. Kaus is a member of AFCEA International Technology Committee, located in Northern Virginia.
