My first introduction to data warehousing began with an invitation from IBM in late 1989 to look at a new development. My friends at IBM wanted my opinion on a promising new technology that they had labeled "data warehousing." After I had looked through the material, they asked me if I thought it was a good idea and whether it made sense or not.
