Web Services: "You Say You Got a Real Solution...": Opening Statement

When we were putting together the call for papers for this issue on the Web services "revolution," we debated which of the lyrics of the eponymous Beatles song we ought to use for a subtitle. The song has a lot of good lines, and many people have used one or more of them to talk about changes in the information technology landscape over the last decade or so.
