It seems to me that many sports fans are more interested in the statistics than the game itself. Baseball fans, in particular, love statistics. They can quote from the obscure to the irrelevant, from the vague to the long-forgotten -- and what's more, they are happy to discuss these statistics for hours and hours. Yet what is the only statistic that matters? Yes, you guessed it: the score.
