
Alexandre Rodrigues
Alexandre Rodrigues is a Senior Consultant with Cutter Consortium's Business Agility & Software Engineering Excellence practice. He is Executive Partner of PMO Projects Group, delivering advanced project management training and consulting services to clients across Europe and other parts of the world. Dr. Rodrigues has been leading the implementation of earned value management (EVM) systems for multibillion-dollar projects and control programs, especially in the mining, oil and gas, and infrastructures sectors. Clients include Volkswagen, Motorola, Microsoft, BHP Billiton, NATO, Vodafone, BAE Systems, Marconi Electronic Systems, Vale, Rio Tinto, Casas Bahia, and Telefonica. He has also worked for the military and consulting industries in the UK and the US.
Dr. Rodrigues is a PMI member and a certified PMP. Previously, he was an International Correspondent for the PMForum (Portugal), a Chartered Member of the Portuguese Association of Engineering, President of PMI's Portugal Chapter, a PMI Component Mentor for the EMEA region, and a member of the Congress Project Action Teams for the EMEA PMI Global Congresses. He was also an active member of the PMI teams that developed the PMBOK Guide (third edition) and the Organizational Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3). In 2009, Dr. Rodrigues was named PM Ambassador in Portugal by the PMForum. That same year, the PMI invited him to join the core team developing the second edition of PMI's Practice Standard for Earned Value Management. In 2012, he was invited to become the EVM Ambassador in Europe by the Earned Value Management Europe Association. Dr. Rodrigues was also invited by Gower Publishers to write two books dedicated to the application of EVM to projects, programs, and portfolios.
Dr. Rodrigues has over a decade of teaching experience, having lectured on project management and system dynamics modeling topics to undergraduate and graduate students throughout various universities in Europe. Dr. Rodrigues publishes regularly in scientific and business journals, has served as Guest Editor for Cutter Business Technology Journal, and has been a guest speaker at international conferences and other project management events. He received the 1996 Mike Simpson Award from the UK's Operational Research Society for research developed in the fields of project management and system dynamics modeling. Dr. Rodrigues holds a five-year licentiate degree in systems and informatics engineering from the University of Minho (Portugal) and a PhD in project management and system dynamics from the University of Strathclyde (UK).
