Benjamin Herndon, PhD, is Chief Strategy Officer at KUNGFU.AI, helping organizations harness the transformative potential of AI. Drawing on a scientific understanding of how human and machine intelligence can work in synergy, he pioneered a distinctive approach to AI-driven transformation that enables organizations to accelerate adoption, drive meaningful change, and achieve lasting differentiation. Building on this vision, Dr. Herndon launched KUNGFU.AI’s Strategy and Management Consulting practice in 2021 — well before the rise of ChatGPT — assembling a world-class team of experts to apply his methodology in practice. Since then, his approach has been implemented in more than 30 client engagements, spanning Fortune 500 companies to the US Department of Defense. Previously, Dr. Herndon was the first Head of AI Strategy at Vista Equity Partners, where he identified and led initiatives applying AI at scale across one of the world’s leading private equity portfolios, significantly increasing portfolio value. Prior to this role, he was recruited by US President Barack Obama appointee Commissioner John Koskinen to serve as the first-ever Chief Research and Analytics Officer at the US Internal Revenue Service, where he led a $300 million portfolio of strategic initiatives. Dr. Herndon was also a highly recognized Professor of Management and Organization at Georgia Institute of Technology, USA. He earned an MBA and a master of public affairs degree from the University of Texas at Austin, USA, and a bachelor of arts degree in political philosophy from Harvard University, USA.
