Rafael Sardá

Rafael Sardá is Associate Professor of the Operations, Innovation, and Data Sciences Department of ESADE Business School, Spain, where he teaches environmental management and corporate sustainability. He is a Senior Scientist at the National Council of Research of Spain (CSIC) and cofounder of the Business and Environment group of CEMS, a global alliance of business schools. Dr. Sardá’s research focuses on the frontier between social and ecological systems; how these systems work and interact; how to cope with present and emerging local/global environmental problems; and the role, if any, that science and regulations might play. His areas of research include integrated coastal zone management, ocean governance, and sustainability. Dr. Sardá is the author or coauthor of about 200 research papers. He represents CSIC in international expert group consultations on coastal and marine research affairs as well as policy developments, including work in the maritime ordination group of experts of the Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.
