Vittorio Cretella is passionate about driving change to deliver business value. Mr. Cretella has a strong track record, built on leading and transforming the large, global IT operation of a Fortune 100 business, including developing talent and capabilities, consolidating and streamlining the organization, and adopting cloud and Agile to increase flexibility and speed.
Mr. Cretella enjoyed a 26-year career with Mars, Inc., where he was appointed to the Global CTO and Global CIO positions. At Mars, Mr. Cretella gained a deep understanding of the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry and retail environment, the diversity of markets and channels across the globe, as well as the profound disruption of traditional business models caused by digitization. In his CTO and CIO roles, he spearheaded numerous waves of digital transformation throughout a diverse and global business, championing the concept of data as an essential asset for future growth and defining a comprehensive digital strategy across all business dimensions. Mr. Cretella led various initiatives, including ones for technology strategy and capabilities to execute in the areas of digital marketing and e-commerce; strategy and architecture to maximize the value of data and Agile analytics to enable cross-enterprise digitization; the early adoption of cloud-based digital workplace technology to boost productivity and innovation; and the approach, governance, and cybersecurity capabilities for information risk management in the digital age. In addition, he led the IT dimension of several large-scale M&As and restructuring initiatives.
Since retiring from Mars at the end of 2017, Mr. Cretella has been advising and leading organizations on their digital transformation journey in senior advisory roles and non-executive board of director positions. He sits on the advisory board of leading IT companies, is an angel investor and mentor for startup accelerators, and a member of and featured speaker for Consumer Goods Technology's “League of Leaders.” Mr. Cretella is also a board director of the national nonprofit Npower, which provides technology training programs to veterans and young adults from underserved communities.
