Alexandre Rodrigues is a Cutter Expert and a member of Arthur D. Little's AMP open consulting network. He is Executive Partner of PMO Projects Group, delivering advanced project management training and consulting services to clients worldwide. Dr. Rodrigues has more than 25 years’ experience in project management and has lead the implementation of earned value management (EVM) systems for multibillion-dollar projects and control programs, especially in the mining, oil and gas, and infrastructures sectors. Clients include Volkswagen, Motorola, Microsoft, BHP Billiton, NATO, Vodafone, BAE Systems, Marconi Electronic Systems, Vale, Rio Tinto, Casas Bahia, and Telefonica. He has also worked for the military and consult­ing industries in the UK and the US.

Dr. Rodrigues is a Project Management Institute (PMI) member, a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), and founding President of the Portugal Section of the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE). Currently, he is lead author of the ISO21512 standard “EVM Implementation Guide” and coordinator of Portugal’s Technical Commission for the ISO working groups for project management, EVM, and work breakdown structure. Previously, Dr. Rodrigues was VP of Operations of the College of Performance Management of Colombia, a mem­ber of the Advisory Panel of International Experts for the US Government Accountability Office, International Correspondent for the Portugal’s PMForum, a Chartered Member of the Portuguese Association of Engineering, Founding President of PMI's Portugal Chapter, a PMI Component Mentor for the EMEA region, and a member of the Congress Project Action Teams for the EMEA PMI Global Congresses. He has also been an active member of the PMI teams that developed the third edition of A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide), the second and third editions of the Practice Standard for Earned Value Management, and the Organizational Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3). During his career, Dr. Rodrigues has been named Technical Liaison for the ISO 21500 standards development program by AACE International, PM Ambassador in Portugal by PMForum, and EVM Ambassador by EVM Europe Association.

Dr. Rodrigues has over a decade of teaching experience, having lectured and supervised research on project management and system dynamics modeling topics to undergraduate and graduate students throughout various universities in Europe, Africa, and South America. He publishes regularly in scientific and business journals, has served as Guest Editor for Cutter Business Technology Journal, and has been a guest speaker at international conferences and other project management events. Dr. Rodrigues received the 1996 Mike Simpson Award from the UK's Operational Research Society for research developed in the fields of project management and system dynamics modeling. He holds a five-year licentiate degree in systems and informatics engineering from the University of Minho (Portugal) and a PhD in project management and system dynamics from the University of Strathclyde (UK).
