Chris Gearhart

Chris Gearhart is Director of National Renewable Energy Laboratory's (NREL) Center for Integrated Mobility Sciences, where he manages a staff of more than 150 scientists and engineers developing advanced transportation technologies. Previously, Dr. Gearhart was Director of NREL’s Hydrogen Technologies and Systems Center. Prior to NREL, he held various leadership positions focusing on fuel cell and hydrogen storage research at Ford Motor Company, and also played pivotal roles in product development, safety research, and quality assurance. Dr. Gearhart has taught at Michigan State University and the School for Renewable Energy Science in Iceland. He has authored or coauthored more than 55 publications and holds three patents.
