Donald Reifer

Donald J. Reifer is recognized as one of the leading figures in the fields of software engineering and management, with more than 40 years of progressive management experience in both industry and government. He has built businesses, managed key programs, and led major R&D initiatives. Mr. Reifer is often called upon by clients to review troubled programs, examine red team proposals, and perform competitive assessments with an emphasis on benchmarking and business analysis. Besides being a trusted advisor to major corporations and the US federal government, he serves on boards and as an expert witness on IP litigation. Currently, as an independent consultant, Mr. Reifer acts as a transformation agent and advises executives in Fortune 500 firms on various software methodologies, such as Agile and Lean. He is known for his business, technical, and practical problem-solving skills. Mr. Reifer has published over 200 software engineering and management papers and nine books. His many awards include the US Secretary of Defense’s Medal for Outstanding Public Service, the NASA Exceptional Service Medal, the AIAA Software Engineering Award, the ISPA Freiman Award, the DISA Service Award, membership in Who’s Who in the West, and the Hughes Aircraft Company Fellowship.
