Introduction

Loyal readers of American Programmer will recall that we covered the Year 2000 phenomenon in our February 1996 issue. Judging from the number of reprints and back-order requests for that issue, it was the most popular of the topics that we covered last year. But we also received grumpy e-mail from several software engineers who complained, "This stuff is boring!
