John Seddon
John Seddon has received numerous academic awards for his innovative contribution to management science. Inspired by W. Edwards Deming's observations that mankind invented management and conventional management doesn't work very well, Prof. Seddon pioneered a systems approach to designing and managing service organizations. He developed the "Vanguard Method," the means by which service organizations can change from a conventional command-and-control design to a systems design. Prof. Seddon is the founder of the Vanguard organizations, which operate today in nine countries.
