Nancy Williams

Nancy Williams has more than 25 years' business management and technical experience. Ms. Williams is a well-known BI industry consultant, educator, author, and practitioner. Her work focuses on how organizations can leverage BI to improve business performance. Ms. Williams is also VP of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing at DecisionPath Consulting, a BI/DW strategy firm.

Ms. Williams has helped leading organizations formulate business-focused BI and DW strategies and business cases that earn funding and chart a course toward BI success. These organizations include Marriott International, Travelers Insurance, the Social Security Administration, Stewart Title Insurance, Navy Federal Credit Union, Legg Mason, the US Environmental Protection Agency, and the US Treasury. Her areas of expertise include BI assessments, BI strategy, portfolio development and roadmaps, BI requirements, data governance, data modeling, and BI project and program management.

Ms. Williams is a regular instructor, keynote presenter, and best practices judge at the Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI). She has also been invited to speak at DAMA and American Strategic Management Performance Management events. Ms. Williams has participated in the BI Independent Analyst Platform, comprised of leading industry experts.

She hosts the BI impact channel on the B-Eye Network and has served as a BI expert for the DM Review Ask the Experts channel. Ms. Williams has authored or coauthored articles in numerous publications, including Strategic Finance, Business Trends Quarterly, DM Review, Business Performance Management Magazine, Teradata Magazine, Oracle's Profit Magazine, and Business Intelligence Journal. She is also coauthor of the book The Profit Impact of Business Intelligence and codeveloper of the BI Pathway Approach, a leading industry BI/DW methodology. The BI Pathway Approach has been taught at industry conferences since 2007 and has been adopted by leading companies such as Eli Lilly.

Ms. Williams holds an MBA from Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Virginia. She earned her BS from the University of Virginia. Ms. Williams is a Certified BI Professional (CBIP), member of the Software Engineering Institute and former member of Corporate Software Engineering Process Improvement Work Group.
