Jim Rhyne

Jim Rhyne is a cofounder and partner at Thematix, a consultancy specializing in business applications of semantic technology, business architecture, and IT systems modernization. He is also a cofounder and treasurer of the Business Architecture Guild and has been a primary contributor to the Guide to the Business Architecture Body of Knowledge (BIZBOK™ Guide). Jim has advised hundreds of clients (recently Avis, Wells-Fargo, UBS, and the US Patent and Trademark Office) and lectured on business architecture and IT systems modernization. He left IBM in 2009 to start an independent consulting practice. While at IBM, he was Distinguished Engineer and CTO for the IBM Worldwide Banking Center of Excellence and CTO for a software products group that included Websphere for zOS, COBOL, Java, and CICS. Rhyne advised many IBM banking and health care clients on systems modernization strategies. He observed that modernization projects are most successful when driven from a business modernization initiative and in 2002 he began developing business architecture skills and advising clients on business/IT modernization.
